2013

I cannot say how far away I have sailed from you now. The apex seems wide. A dawdling yawning gape. You orbit the corporation on a tired spindle of rumours, the CEO might get axed, the executives that are being retrenched. But you are safer than houses. You call your work the coal mines. But, I rather think that you belong to those people more and more. If you ever feel the loss of us––it no longer shows. Yet, there is some retardants of spirit, some probing surrogation, the way you stayed out for work drinks the other night, became so incapacitated, smoked a joint, totally lost your way. You were afraid. ‘It’s just hedonism’ you said the next day. The old way. You are flailing in yourself––absenting yourself. You pay the bills, tweet, haemorrhaging data––taken away from us in pixels. But, here’s the thing: ‘Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life’ Steve Jobs.

Boundary Speak (Diaries 2013-2021) centrally focuses on reportage of my life’s happenings, notes on readings, phantasms or wild forays, riffs off music or footnotes from poems that take me on a strange journey and thought fragments. My outsider artwork is focal on my Re-learn your Alphabet for the Twenty-First Century drawings (some of which are collaborations with my children), my robot series, as well as many other drawings undertaken over the period 2013-2021.
